Troubleshooting
Why is the file larger after compression?
If the original file is already small or well compressed, you may not see a size reduction. Try converting the image to JPG, converting the image to WEBP, or resizing the image before compressing again.
The download button is greyed out / can’t be clicked — how do I fix it?
This happens when the compressed file is still larger than the original. In that case, the download is disabled.
Why does the image look pixelated or blurry?
If the quality is set too low, the file size drops a lot but visible artifacts appear. Reduce the quality in 5–10% steps until you find the right balance between size and clarity.
Compression makes my device freeze or lag — how can I speed it up?
Because this tool runs entirely in your browser, processing speed depends on your device and the size of the files you compress. Lag is most common on mobile devices and with very large PNG images.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Is this tool safe? Will my files be exposed?
Your files stay in your browser and aren’t sent to any server. All compression runs locally on your device.
What’s the maximum file size?
It depends on your device and browser. Very high-resolution images can be slow or laggy. If that happens, try reducing the pixel dimensions first.
Is there a daily usage limit?
Our single-image compressor is free with no daily cap. Extremely large images may still cause slowdowns.
What’s the difference between “compress” and “resize”?
Compression reduces the file size while keeping the same width and height. Resizing lowers the pixel dimensions (width and height) of the image.
Which file types are supported?
Currently, Calcixo’s single-image compressor supports JPG, PNG, and WEBP. If we add more formats, we’ll update this page.
